Arnau Sala makes innovative experimental music in Barcelona. Hermafrodites is a collection of four tracks from recent recording sessions. The A side features sputtering and hypnotic clicks, interspersed with touches of filtering, resonance, and light washes of sound. The B side is the exact opposite: the calm, machine like quality of the first half is replaced by a harsh stampede of static and engines. The beast alluded to in the beginning is unleashed, only to be tamed by filters and equalization.
1019rec#14 comes as a hand labelled and numbered tape, with an etched shard of vinyl, packaged in a sewn piece of xeroxed paper, and it is available now for $4 shipped US, $5 int'l.
